Vivo might be busy with the plans for its new tablet lineup, but again, this can’t prevent the brand from bringing new mid-range contenders. As previously tipped, the brand is expanding its Y-series even further with the release of the Vivo Y15s. The new handset comes with low-end specs and is clearly targetted at those who can’t pay much for a smartphone, but still want a decent set of specifications. The handset comes with an Octa-Core chipset, waterdrop notch design, and a huge battery.
The Vivo Y15s, as we mentioned above,
clearly targeted the budget segment. Anyway, it comes with specs and features
that don’t make it look like a much old smartphone. For example, it flaunts
a 6.51-inch IPS LCD with a waterdrop
notch design. As an entry-level smartphone, it only has an HD+ resolution with
to 1,600 x 720 pixels. Furthermore, the screen will refresh at the outdated 60
Hz standard. As far as the notch is concerned, it serves as a home for the 8 MP
snapper.
Moving around to the back, the device
sports a simple dual-camera system with a primary 13 MP camera and a secondary
2 MP macro snapper. The device has a rectangular camera island and measures
163.96 x 75.2 x 8.28 mm and weighs 179 grams.
Under the hood, the handset comes with a
MediaTek Helio P35 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of Internal
Storage. The device also packs a micro SD card slot allowing you to easily
expand the storage amount. The Vivo Y15s runs Android 11 Go Edition with
FunTouch OS 11.1 straight out of the box. The device draws its powers from a
5,000 mAh battery with 10 W charging support. Unfortunately, the handset comes
with an old micro USB 2.0 port. That’s a pity that in 2022 there are still
smartphones coming with this standard.
In terms of software, the Vivo Y15s comes
with Android 11 Go Edition. That means that the Helio P35 will not have much
trouble running the OS since it’s made for a lightweight experience. Other
features include a dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a
3.5 mm headphone jack. The Vivo Y15s is available in the sole variant with 3 GB
of RAM and 32 GB of Internal Storage. It costs INR 10,990 in India. The device
will be available starting today through Vivo’s official store in India. Worth
noting, that partner retail stores in the country will also be selling this
handset. It’s available in two distinct colorways – Mystic Blue and Wave Green.
