While the Surface Pro X and even the affordable Surface Go 3 offered optional LTE connectivity, the Surface Pro 8 did not – at least not until now. Note that the new models are available under the Surface 8 Pro for Business name. They have a built-in eSIM or you could put a physical card in the nano-SIM slot. The 4G connectivity comes from a Snapdragon X20 modem, which supports Cat. 14 speeds (1.2 Gbps downlink). This means no 5G, which is available on some recent laptops, but it should be fast enough for most needs.
Anyway, you can pick between an Intel Core
i5-1135G7 or an i7-1185G7, the i3 versions don’t have a 4G option. Also, the
choice of storage is limited to 128 GB and 256 GB, higher capacities are not
available if you want mobile connectivity.
Note that while these are technically
business-oriented offerings, individuals can still order them from Microsoft
Store. These slates do come with Windows 11 Pro, however, which drives up the
price a bit.
