Reliance Jio is India’s most popular carrier, with over 400 million subscribers and understandably the development of its 5G network is followed closely by a huge number of people. A new report now reveals it has concluded 5G coverage planning and will start rolling out 5G network in phases, with 13 major cities being part of the first wave.
The company will also be launching its own phone to go with
that, an exclusive Android Central report claims. Aptly called JioPhone 5G, it
will be powered by Snapdragon 480 and will come with price tag of around
INR 10,000, which is under US$ 150.
The JioPhone 5G will have a 6.5” LCD with HD+ resolution.
The Qualcomm chip will have 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage to work with and there
will be a dedicated microSD slot. It's reportedly coming with a 13MP main rear
camera (alongside a 2MP auxialary snapper and an 8MP selfie shooter.
The OS is reported to be a fully-fledged Android 11 and Jio
will plug its own “digital suite”. The battery of the JioPhone 5G will be 5,000
mAh with 18W charging support through a USB-C port, and it the phone will
feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The launch of the phone is planned for this year, but
there’s no official date yet.
