Sony Philippines today launched its newest true wireless stereo earphones on a tight budget—WF-C500. According to Sony, the WF-C500 promises to bring high-quality sound with "unique" sound customization, ease of use, long battery life, and water resistance for on-the-go music entertainment in the sub-PHP 5,000 range. At PHP 4,999, it is several thousand more affordable than the higher-end Sony WF-1000XM4 priced at PHP 13,999.
The device is boasting a small body with
IPX4 water splash resistance and an in-ear design in Black, White, Green, and
Orange colorways. It also has a rounded shape and that could fit securely in
the ears. Inside, it uses a 5.8mm dynamic driver with a 20Hz to 20KHz frequency
response. Sony is also claiming that it has the DSEE technology designed to
restore the high-frequency sound and fine fade-out sound lost in compression.
It also has button controls that could be
used to access the voice assistant to get directions, play music, and even send
messages. Of course, it has a built-in microphone and Sony said that it is a
good quality one. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP,
and HSP profiles as well as SBC or AAC audio codec support. It also has Google
Fast Pair for Android devices, Swift Pair for Windows 10 PC, and low latency
audio.
You can also connect the bud on the Sony
Headphones Connect app with a built-in equalizer where users can choose a
variety of settings to match sound quality with the music genre they are
listening to and even customize it to their liking. It also supports 360
Reality Audio allowing personalized playback to the specific shape and size of
the user's ears.
For battery, Sony is claiming that it can
last for 10 hours of playback time or 5 hours of continuous communication time.
The charging time of the device is 2.5 hours. It also has a 10-minute quick
charge that gives users up to an hour of extra playtime. The charging case measures 80.0 x 34.9 x 30.9
mm and weighs 35 grams. It charges via USB-C. Each bud weighs just 5.4 grams.
Lastly, Sony is boasting that the WF-C500
uses zero plastic in the packaging showing they have sustainability in mind.
