During the Huawei APAC Summer Product Launch, the tech giant also released the nova 8i, the first smartphone of the company outside of China in months. Huawei nova 8i is a premium-looking smartphone packed with a Mate 30-like back design with a circular camera hump and a 6.67-inch FHD+ 60Hz LCD panel with a pill-shaped punch-hole and curves reminiscent of the P40 Pro.
Inside, powering the handset is Qualcomm's 2.0GHz 11nm Snapdragon 662 octa-core processor with Adreno 610 GPU paired with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 4,300mAh battery with USB-C 66W Huawei SuperCharge. The said fast charging tech is designed to fully charge its battery in just 40 minutes.
For cameras, it is sporting a quad-camera setup consisting of a 64MP f/1.9 main shooter, 8MP f/2.4 ultra-wide camera, 2MP f/2.4 macro, and 2MP f/2.4 depth. In the punch-hole, you will find a 16MP snapper. The device also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and dual SIM slots. This loads with Android 10 OS with EMUI 11 skin. Likely, this will be upgradable to HarmonyOS 2 as well.
It measures 161.85 x 74.7 x 8.58 mm and weighs 190 grams. This is available in Moonlight Silver, Interstellar Blue, and Starry Black colorways. Versus the 7i, this has upgrades in design, charging, and cameras. But, the chipset is downgraded from Kirin 810.
