Last month we shared an exclusive render of the Honor Play 5 and reported the smartphone will sport a 64MP quad camera. That bit has now been corroborated by Honor as the phone maker shared a poster on Weibo to confirm it, while a separate post revealed the Play 5 will be only 7.46mm thick.
Previously, Honor announced that the Play
5 will support 66W charging and revealed the smartphone's design, which is
different from what our render showed, suggesting we are actually looking at
two different smartphones. Honor hasn't detailed the Play 5's specs yet, but if
rumors are to be believed, we'll see the smartphone come with a Dimensity 800U
SoC, a 6.53" FullHD+ OLED screen, and a 3,800 mAh battery that will draw
power through a USB-C port.
The Play 5 will weigh 179 grams, and the
64MP primary camera on the rear will be joined by one 8MP (likely ultrawide)
and two 2MP (likely depth and macro) units. The Play 5's official announcement
is set for May 18, and we expect Honor to reveal more about the smartphone in
the lead-up to the unveiling.
