Often within the code of companion Android apps for wearable devices, there can reference to new and upcoming products ahead of their official launch. In the new Galaxy Wearable app’s APK from Samsung, there are references to a possible Galaxy Buds 2, suggesting that the device is in development.
According to the APK teardown, the
unreleased wireless earbuds has the codename “berry”, and the code also reveals
that it will support multi-device connection, along with support for non-Samsung
devices and tablets. The codename has been confirmed to be for a new product
and not an alternate name for an existing product.
If Samsung does launch the Galaxy Buds 2,
it will likely replace the original Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+. At the
moment, Samsung also offers the Galaxy Buds Live and the Galaxy Buds Pro, both
of which are more expensive than the Galaxy Buds+. Since the product was
spotted in the new Wearables app, we can expect the official launch sometime in
H2 2021.
