On May 6, Oppo will be running a big event in China where it will reveal a bunch of new products. Starting with the core business, the brand will introduce a brand new smartphone dubbed OPPO K9 5G. The company will also introduce the Oppo Enco Air to its portfolio of TWS earphones as well as a new Oppo Band for the wearable department. The company’s home category will also get a brand new smart TV dubbed Oppo Smart TV K9. Ahead of the conference, the company has been teasing the specifications, features, and even the design of these upcoming products.
As far as the Oppo Smart TV K9 is
concerned the company is gearing up to introduce the new TV in three distinct
sizes – 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. According to Oppo, this panel can output
1.07 billion colors. For that reason, we assume that all three panels will come
with a 4K (UHD) resolution. Moreover, these panels are coming to cover 93% of
the DCI-P3 color gamut. Moreover, we expect a color accuracy Δ < 2. Lastly,
like other televisions, the new panel will have HDR10+ support straight out of
the box.
A leaked poster also suggests some smart
features such as automatic dimming, automatic gamma adjustment, and more. The
panels are set to come with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. However, at the moment
of this writing, it’s impossible to state if all of them will have this refresh
rate. Worth noting, that these TVs are said to be placed under the older Oppo
TV S1 and Oppo TV R1.
We do know that most of these products are
coming to China and probably will remain exclusive to the market. The lineup of
smart TVs hardly will leave China. We may see upcoming Realme TVs based on this
design in the future. Unlike its parent/sister brand, Realme is building a
solid ecosystem of products in India.
As far as pricing is concerned, we assume
that these TVs will be in an intermediary pricing point. The smaller model will
obviously be cheaper than the other two. However, we don’t know exactly if
there will be variations in the specifications coming with the basic and
high-tier models. We do know that at least one of the TVs will have 2GB of RAM
and 16GB of Storage. The higher model with a larger screen will likely come
with more storage and RAM.
We expect further details to be revealed
in the coming days. Oppo will certainly build the hype for the upcoming
products.
