Mobvoi has announced a new smartwatch. Called the TicWatch Pro S, it is a more affordable version of the TicWatch Pro 3 (or an upgraded version of the TicWatch Pro), and with this cheaper price tag comes some tradeoffs.
The TicWatch Pro S has the same
dual-layered display we have seen on the other pro models. The top screen is an
LCD screen for the Essential Mode and below it is an AMOLED screen for the
smart mode. Both screens are 1.39-inches in size. The former has high sunlight
readability and displays only the essentials such as time, date, steps taken,
and heart rate. The battery life of the watch goes up to 30 days in this mode.
The Smart Mode is powered by Wear OS and
in this mode, you have fancy watch faces, access to apps from the Play Store,
support for Google Pay, and the Google Assistant. In this mode, the battery
life drops to between 2 to 5 days.
Some of the new features that the watch
gets when compared to the original TicWatch Pro are YicExercise 3.0 which
brings Vo2 Max, running lap counter, heart rate range indicator, an upgraded
user interface; TicSleep 2.0 for better sleep monitoring with more in-depth
data; TicBreathe which monitors your heart rate, stress changes, and helps you
relax through breathing exercises; and TicHearing which measures environmental
noise from 30dB to 120dB and alerts you to sounds that can damage your hearing
and nervous system.
The TicWatch Pro S has a Snapdragon Wear
2100 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, an IP68 rating, Bluetooth 4.2,
2.4GHz WI-Fi, a 415mAh battery, and a
MIL-810G rating. It is priced at US$ 259 and is available in Black. It can be
purchased starting today on the official Mobvoi site in the US, UK, and Europe
as well as on Amazon.
