Back in January 2021, we had reported that Oppo was working on its own Bluetooth Smart Tag device. Now, the design of this smart tag has been revealed in patent images prior to its official launch.
The Smart Tag from the Chinese tech giant
will be functionally similar to the Galaxy SmartTag from Samsung, which was
announced along with the Galaxy S21 series. So, it was also assumed at the time
that we might see Oppo’s iteration of this device being launched alongside the
Find X3 series. Now, the Smart Tag from the company has been spotted in a
recent patent filing with China’s CNIPA, as per a 91Mobiles report. The patent
carries a number of images that are a bit different from the ones spotted
earlier this year.
The Oppo Smart Tag appears to be flatter
than and a bit larger than before. It features a rectangular design with
rounded edges. In the middle, a circular design with the smartphone maker’s
branding can be observed. Notably, the patent does not reveal any seam or hole
that will allow one to attach the device to a personal item. For those unaware,
smart tags are essentially small Bluetooth enabled devices that help locate
certain items and objects, which they are attached to.
In other words, it helps find items like
keys or a bag if they are lost but still connected to your smartphone.
Unfortunately, it is unclear if this is the final design the company would opt
for. So, we will have to wait for the official announcement, which will arrive
when the Find X3 series launches on the 11th of March 2021.
