Microsoft unveiled the first wireless Xbox headset in quite a while – it will be available from March 16 at US$ 100, but you can pre-order one today if you want to be among the first to have it. This Xbox Wireless Headset is designed for gaming on the Xbox Series X or Series S as well as PCs. You can also simultaneously connect it to your phone so you would hear it if it rings while you play. You can even accept the call and continue playing.
As a proper gaming headset, this one has a
microphone (which can be tucked away when not in use). Two beam-forming mics
and voice isolation tuning help the headset separate your voice from background
noises. Also, you can rotate the earcups to adjust the volume of game audio and
team chat separately.
Three high-quality spatial audio standards
are supported: Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS Headphone:X. You may need a
Bluetooth 4.2 (or higher) dongle to connect with your PC, the Xbox consoles
have the functionality built in. The Xbox Wireless Headset weighs 312g. Its
battery should last 15 hours on a single charge. If you’re in a hurry, a 30
minute charge is puts in 4 hours of play time into the battery.
Using the Xbox Accessories app you can
tune additional settings on the headset – adjust the equalizer and bass boost,
configure the auto-mute feature, change the LED brightness and more. The video
above demos the app, the one below is the launch trailer for the headset.
You can find more details and pre-order
the headset over at the online Microsoft Store in the US, Canada (CAD$ 130),
the UK (£ 95), Germany (€ 100), Australia (AUD$ 150) and others. The headset will
also be available through select retailers.
