ASUS ROG Flow X13 and XG Mobile

ASUS Philippines launched the ROG Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile external GPU that can support up an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. It is arriving this month.

The ROG Flow X13 is the first 2-in01 convertible ROG gaming laptop. It features a 13.4-inch 16:10 UHD touch IPS display at 3840 x 2400 with a 60Hz refresh rate, 116 percent sRGB coverage, and Pantone validation. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and 4.9mm side bezels.

It features a sleek and convertible design with a 360-degree hinge that allows users to use it on different modes. It can be used as a standard laptop, a tablet, and even tent mode if need be. Stand mode allows for better cooling since it gets more airflow and it can lower the temperature by up to 8 degrees Celsius. The slim body measures just 15.8mm thick and weighs 1.3kg.

Inside, it can have up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS with 8 cores and 16 threads, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 mobile GPU with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM, up to 16GB dual-channel 4266MHz LPDDR4X on-board RAM, up to 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, and a 62Whr battery with 100W USB-C charging.

Other features include a backlit chiclet keyboard, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, 2 x speakers with Dolby Atmos and HRA certification, array microphone, and a 720 HD webcam. It also has an integrated one-touch login feature. There's a special Supernova Edition that is maxed out and bundled with a ROG XG Mobile with RTX 3080 and a new Xbox Wireless controller for a select few owners.

The ROG XG Mobile features a more streamlined design for an external GPU dock. it only measures 29mm thick and weighs 1kg. It is 6 percent the size of typical eGPUs in the market. Smaller does not mean weaker since it can support up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. It features an efficient vapor chamber cooling to make sure that your GPU stays at ideal temps. The vapor chamber design increases the contact surface area by 54 percent to increase heat dissipation.

The ROG XG Mobile connects directly to the CPU with a custom PCIe 3.0 x8 interface that is faster than Thunderbolt 4. It has a 63Gbps bandwidth dedicated exclusively to graphics for better performance. The USB link drives the XG Mobile's multi-port hub which features 4 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a full-sized SD card slot, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. For output, it has DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0a. It has an integrated 280W power adapter too.
