The new SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD is now available in the
Philippines starting at PHP 6,899 for 500GB. Formerly SunDisk, SanDisk is the
American brand of Western Digital for flash memory products that include memory
cards, readers, USB flash drives and solid-state drives. Recently, the company
has officially brought its Extreme Pro Portable Solid State Drives in the
Philippines.
Solid State Drives are storage devices
that use integrated circuit assembly and flash memory to store data
persistently. Unlike the Hard Disk Drives that use spinning disks and moving
parts, the SSD is silent and is resistant to shocks while it offers faster
access times and lower latency. In short, the Solid State Drives offer faster
and more reliable performance with negligible trade-offs.
SanDisk has introduced several external
portable SSDs over the years but only recently released the 'Pro Version' of
its Extreme line of SSDs. This Pro model is advertised to have sequential read
speeds of up to 1050 MB/s or around 1GB/s and is compatible with both Windows
and macOS computers.
The new SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD
features up to 2TB capacities, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C interface, rugged design
with aluminum body, and IP55 water and dust resistance rating. It measures at
112.0 x 58.0 x 11.5mm and weighs only 0.08kg! Lastly, it comes with 128-Bit AES
encryption along with comes with a USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables in the box.
