Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava
mobiles have been launching several new smartphones over the sequence of the
past few months. Recently, the smartphone from Lava called the Lava Pulse had
been making several promises and was to come with a heart rate sensor – the
first such attempt on a feature phone anywhere in the world. According to
MySmartPrice, the company is now working on a new smartphone called the Lava
Z93 Plus.
Interestingly, The Lava Z93 could be
powered by the 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) processor. On the
website, Lava hasn’t revealed the processor that the Z93 Plus uses. What it
does reveal is that it, there is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2Ghz. Not to
mention, The Z93 Plus gets a big 6.53-inch LCD display panel with a resolution
of 1560 X 720 pixels. The phone will be available in two RAM options – 2GB and
3GB and a single 32GB storage variant. The Lava Z93 will also get a microSD
card slot for memory expansion up to 512GB. The Lava Z93 Plus boasts of a large
4000mAh battery with no mention of support for fast charging.
For the optics, The camera setup on the
Lava Z93 Plus comprises of a 16-megapixel (f/1.7) + 12-megapixel (f/2.4) +
2-megapixel (f/2.4) setup. However, the company hasn’t clarified if the
secondary 12MP camera uses an ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front, the phone gets an 8MP f/2.0 camera housed in
the waterdrop notch.
As of now, The Lava Z93 Plus runs Android
9 Pie at launch and supports 4G LTE networks in India with support for VoLTE as
well. As expected of a device in this category, it may support dual SIM cards
as well. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.3. The
phone also gets a 3.5mm audio jack. However, currently, there is no word from
Lava as to when this handset will be on sale in India. The company maintains
silence over the pricing of this handset.
The Lava Z71 is powered by MediaTek’s
Helio A22 Chipset. We know it’s an old chipset, but at least it has been made
with the power-efficient 12nm process. Moreover, the handset flaunts a 5.7-inch
HD+ panel which has a waterdrop notch serving as a house for the 5MP selfie
snapper. Moving around to the back, we have a dual-camera setup comprising of a
13MP main shooter coupled with a 2MP depth helper. Still, on the back, we have
an LED flash helper and the phone’s fingerprint scanner. That’s a point where
the Z71 moves forward the competition, for instance, Xiaomi’s Redmi 8a,
company’s sub US$ 100 offering for the Indian market lacks a fingerprint scanner.
The processing power comes along with 2GB
of RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable via the microSD slot. The handset
ships with a 3,200mAh battery which unfortunately charges via an old micro-USB
port. The software side is covered by Lava’s own Star OS 5.1 which runs atop of
Android 9 Pie. Other specs include 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and Dual-SIM
support.
