Lenovo announced the launch of
ThinkStation P620 which is the world's first workstation powered by AMD Ryzen
Threadripper PRO processor. The ThinkStation P620 offers high performance as
well as configurability to meet different needs. It features the 64-core AMD
Ryzen Threadripper PRO with speeds up to 4.0GHz, 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0
bandwidth, and 8-channel memory support. This allows for multi-threaded workloads
in a single socket platform. As the Ryzen Threadripper PRO requires better
thermal managements, Lenovo and AMD collaborated to create a custom-designed
heat sink.
This now allows for seamless 8K streaming
in real-time, reduced render times, ultra-fast simulation solving, quick
assembly rebuilds, and smooth interaction with 3D assets. It supports up to two
NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 or four RTX 4000 GPUs, up to 1TB RAM, and up to 20TB
storage. IT also has built-in 10GB Ethernet connectivity.
The ThinkStation P620 went through
Lenovo's rigorous testing. It also has ThinkStation Diagnostics 2.0,
ThinkShield support, upgrades to Premier Support, and a three-year warranty. In
terms of security, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO features advanced features such
as AMD Secure Processor and AMD Memory Guard that enables full memory
encryption to help protect sensitive data against physical attacks should a PC
be lost or stolen.
The Lenovo ThinkStation P620's price was
not yet revealed but is scheduled to be available in September 2020.
