Canon EOS R5 and R6



Canon has finally announced the new EOS R5 and R6 Full-frame mirrorless cameras with IBIS and internal 10-bit video recording. After Months of mystery and teasing, Canon has finally revealed two new full-frame mirrorless cameras that both feature In-body Image stabilization, DIGIC X processor, RF mount, 1053 AF points and OLED color viewfinder.

Let's begin with the EOS R6. It features a 21MP Full-frame CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel AF that when paired with the DIGIC X processor allows for up to 20 fps continuous stills shooting. It has an ISO range of 100-102400 and a minimum shutter speed of 30 seconds and a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. At the back is a fully-articulating 3-inch 1.62M dot display while the viewfinder has a 3.69M dot display with 100 percent coverage.

R6 can't record 8K nor 4K/120p but it can record 4K/60p with a small crop at up to 10-bit 4:2:2 with C-Log or HDR PQ internally. The R6 measures 138.4 x 97.5 x 88.4 mm and weighs only 680 grams. While the EOS R5 comes with a 45MP CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF that when paired with the DIGIC X processor. The camera can record full-width (no-crop) 8K/30p video up to 30 minutes, 4K/120fps and capture up to 20fps of stills. Users have the option to record video in RAW or H.265. The camera can record internally up to 10-bit 4:2:2 using C-Log or HDR PQ.

It has an ISO range of 100-51200 (expands to 102400) and a minimum shutter speed of 30 secs and a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec.  The R5 measures 138.5 x 97.5 x 88 mm and weighs only 738 grams. At the back of the R5 is a fully-articulating 3.2-inch 2.1M dot touch screen display while the viewfinder has a massive 5.76M dot display with 100 percent coverage.

The Canon EOS R6 will have two UHS-II card slots while the EOS R5 will have 1 CF card slot and 1 UHS-II card slot. For Ports, both cameras include USB Type-C 3.2 with USB Charging, HDMI, microphone port, headphone port and it connects via WiFi and Bluetooth. Both cameras are powered by the LP-E6NH Li-ion battery that is rated for 320 shots for R5 and 360 shots for R6.

Canon has also announced new lenses for the RF mount. These include the new RF100-500 F/4.5-7.1L IS USM, RF 600/RF 800 F/11 IS STM, and RF 85MM IS STM.

The Canon EOS R5 will be available in the US late July while the EOS R6 available in the US in late August while the new lenses arrive later this 2020.
