Shortly before the announcement of the
flagship gaming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone, some insiders announced the upcoming
release of another brand new product, and revealed the first details about the
device. Now, we have the technical characteristics of the gadget called ZenFone
7 and also its estimated date of presentation.
According to the Chinese website TNNToday,
ASUS ZenFone 7 will be presented in two versions at once. The base model and a
pro model, which has more advanced hardware. Like its predecessor, the device
will receive a display with thin frames without cutouts and holes, and a triple
main camera equipped with a folding mechanism that will be used as a selfie
module.
According to the leak, the smartphone will
acquire an AMOLED display with an integrated fingerprint scanner, and the
latest Snapdragon 865 processor will support its performance with up to 16 GB
of RAM in the highest model. The device, codenamed ASUS ZF has appeared in the
Geekbench database, where it scored 973 and 3346 points in single and
multi-core tests, respectively.
Some insiders say that ASUS ZenFone 7 and
ZenFone 7 Pro will arrive in black and white and its presentation will take
place next week, July 22, while the price of the device will be lower than that
of the gaming flagship ROG Phone 3.
Earlier, a couple of images surfaced
giving us our first glimpse in Asus’ upcoming gaming phone the ROG Phone III.
Apparently, the image was just a screenshot from a short hands-on video showing
off the smartphone. Recently, we got the video that reveals the smartphone in
all its glory. We can once again spot the triple camera setup
horizontally-aligned. Moreover, the ROG logo makes a comeback with RGB
backlighting.
However, there is something quite
important to notice in the hands-on video – the Tencent Games logo. If you
recall, Asus partnered with the Chinese gaming giant last year to launch a
Tencent version of the ROG Phone II. It was cheaper than the original version,
however, it was only available in China. Besides being cheaper, users had to
deal with a good amount of Tencent content. Now, the company seems to be
gearing up to launch another Tencent branded version of its gaming phone. It
may also use the same strategy as the Tencent ROG Phone II. Worth mentioning
that the BlackShark was also a partnership with Tencent. Apparently, the gaming
giant is big enough to partner with several companies.
