Asus has just unveiled its solution for a
great portable gaming experience. The ROG Strix XG16 portable gaming monitor is
for those that wish to play on a bigger screen but aren’t in the comfort of
their own home.
The Asus ROG Strix XG16 is a 15.6 inch
monitor which will be launching sometime in December 2020. It was introduced by
the company earlier today (23rd July 2020) alongside its flagship gaming
handset, the ROG Phone 3. What sets this monitor apart from conventional gaming
ones is the fact that it can fit in your backpack. You just need to connect it
to your smartphone via a USB Type C port to game on a bigger screen.
Furthermore, it has a kickstand in the
back, which allows it to be propped up on a table or any flat surface in either
portrait or landscape mode. The fact that is has a laptop sized display enables
its portability, despite having a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution.
According to official notes, the Asus ROG Strix XG16 is powered by a 7,800mAh
battery that lasts up to 3 hours on a full charge.
The portable gaming monitor has two front
facing speakers for audio output and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also has a
micro HDMI port, so enthusiasts can also use it as a second screen for your PC.
Asus is planning on selling a tripod along with it as well, which is an added
bonus. Unfortunately, there has been no announcement for the price as of yet,
although, the 17 inch XG17AHP variant is already available for US$ 495 or US$ 599
with the tripod.
