Earlier this year, Samsung announced a
plethora of new gaming and productivity monitors at CES 2020. The center of
attraction was none other than the company’s 49-inch Odyssey G9 gaming monitor.
The key highlight of this new Odyssey lineup is the 1000R curvature that offers
a much more immersive gaming experience. Well, we now have the pricing
information for the popular Odyssey G9 gaming monitor but for the South Korean
market.
As mentioned earlier, the South Korean
giant has only revealed the pricing information for the South Korean market
i.e. its homeland. The 1000R curved gaming monitor will set you back around KRW
1,960,000 (US$ 1,610). This
roughly falls in line with US pricing of the product which, by the way, is priced
at US$ 1,699.
The Odyssey G9 is currently in the
pre-order phase and the company is offering a free JBL’s Quantum Duo stereo
speakers as well. The G9 is not the only gaming monitor under the Odyssey
lineup. We also have the cheaper offering namely Odyssey G7 that features a
27-inch display panel with the same 1000R curvature.
Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor is
equipped with a massive 49-inch ultrawide curved screen. We’re looking at an
ultrawide aspect ratio of 32:9. The display comes with a dual-QHD resolution,
that is, 5120 x 1440 pixels. In terms of brightness, the display can lit up to
a massive 1,000 nits. Since the product is designed for gaming, you will see a
240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and the support for AMD FreeSync 2 and
Nvidia G-Sync. Both these two technologies help in a tear-free gaming
experience.
In terms of design, the Odyssey G9 is one
of the best-looking gaming monitors out there in the market. It comes with
Infinity core lighting design with glossy white delivering quite a futuristic
look. If you’re unaware, the core lights up when you turn on the display. It
looks somewhat similar to Iron Man’s core reactor. Unlike the traditional
curved display, the 1000R curvature really makes a solid difference in terms of
experience.
Since we’re looking at a solid ultrawide
display panel, you can also double this as a productivity monitor. The stand
offers three types of adjustment namely tilt, swivel, and height. For
connectivity and ports, the monitor comes with a headphone jack, HDMI, two DP
ports, and two USB 3.0 ports.
