About a couple of months or so, we learned
that Samsung would release a 5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip, one with a model
number of SM-F707B. A new report today from XDA-Developers corroborates the
earlier report with a confirmation that Samsung has officially certified the
“Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G” name along with the same model number from earlier
reports. Based on earlier reports, a Korean model might be associated with a
model number SM-F707N.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip launched in
February with a Snapdragon 855+ chipset, but it was not outfitted with a 5G
modem. This new model is expected to arrive with 5G support, 256GB of storage
and with at least 8GB of RAM, just like the regular variant that’s currently
available.
The new Galaxy Z Flip 5G is said to arrive
in a new brown color, and according to its 3C certification, it will come with
the same 15W fast charger that came with the original Z Flip. There’s still no
word on whether the new Z Flip will be updated with a Snapdragon 865 chipset,
but this is what we are expecting to see. The new variant is expected to arrive
at Samsung’s Unpacked event in August.
