Xiaomi has today launched its
second Wi-Fi 6 router, dubbed as Mi Router AX1800. The launch of this new
router from the Chinese company comes just a couple of months after the launch
of Mi AIoT Router AX3600.
For this new AX1800 router, Xiaomi has
completely changed the design and has adopted the tower-like form factor.
Thanks to this new design, it can have more storage space and thus it includes
heat sink to keep the temperature in-check.
It also features hidden dual-band
high-performance antenna that aims to offer a strong 360-degree signal
coverage. Both frequency ranges — 2.4GHz and 5GHz have two Qorvo
high-performance independent signal amplifiers which increased signal strength
by 4dB which should increase coverage by 50 percent.
The router comes packed with 256GB of RAM
and has Mesh Networking support for seamless signal coverage in the house. The
Xiaomi Mi Router AX1800 supports connection of up to 128 devices
simultaneously.
It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm
APQ6000 chipset with dedicated NPU, and comes with support for OFDMA technology
(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) which allows the router to send
data to multiple terminal devices using only one transmission.
Further, the company says that whenever a
new Xiaomi Smart Home devices is connected to the network, it automatically
matches the Mi App settings without the need to manually enter a password.
Xiaomi reveals that this new Wi-Fi 6 router comes with built-in Tencent Online
Game Accelerator that has been deeply customised for accelerating the online
gaming experience on PC and smartphones. The company will be giving away three
months of membership for free with the purchase of this router.
The Mi Router AX1800 will be available for
pre-sale from 15th May in China via e-commerce platform JD.com, for a deposit
of 30 yuan. This newly launched router is priced at 329 yuan (US$ 46) but
will initially be available for 299 yuan which is roughly US$ 42.
