Tecno has just launched a new smartphone
in India. It is the Spark 5, which was launched earlier this month and is
finally arrive in the Southeast Asian country within the budget segment. The
device is priced under 10K INR and will take on budget offerings from other
Chinese smartphone brands like Redmi and Realme.
For those unaware, Tecno is a subsidiary
of Transsion Holdings that also owns other vendors slike Infinix, and iTel.
With the launch of the Tecno Spark 5, the affordable smartphone market will see
more diversity. At the moment, handsets like the Realme C3, Redmi 8A, and Redmi
8A Dual are dominating this segment, but the Spark 5 may disrupt the market
with certain features that are quite unheard of at this price point.
The Tecno Spark 5 is only available in a
single variant of 2GB of RAM ad 32GB of internal storage. It is priced at 7,999
INR (US$ 105) and will be available through offline physical
stores and arrive in two colors, namely Ice Jadeite, and Spark Orange. The
device starts sale on 25th May 2020 with plans also being made for a new
‘Doorstep Delivery’ system for those that wish to place an order with their
offline retailers.
Being an entry level smartphone, the Spark
5 feature MediaTek’s Helio A22 SoC, which is a 12nm processor. It is a quad
core CPU with the PowerVR GE8320 GPU for gaming. In terms of optics, the
handset features a quad camera setup on the rear with a13MP primary camera,
alongside a 2MP sensor for bokeh and a macro lens. The display is a 6.6 inch
HD+ LCD panel with an 8MP waterdrop notch selfie camera on the front.
One of its highlighting features is
undoubtedly its large 5,000mAh battery pack, which should translate to over 2
days of battery life with moderate usage. Tecno Spark 5 runs HiOS 6.1 custom
skin based on Android 10 OS and houses a triple slot that supports two SIM
cards alongside a microSD card slot for memory expansion. So for those in need
of a budget phone, should look out for this one.
