3 months after it was first introduced,
Sony finally revealed the price of the Xperia 1 II. Sony's newest flagship will
retail for US$ 1,199.99 which is US$ 200 higher than the
original Xperia 1. Those who will pre-order the device in the US before June 28
will get a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 headphones. The pre-orders for the device
starts on June 1. Sony will ship it to buyers on July 24.
As a quick recap, the Sony Xperia 1 II
features a an IP68 water-resistant body and a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED screen with
a 21:9 screen aspect ratio and Motion Blur Reduction feature that is near what
can 90Hz screens can provide.
Under the hood, this handset is powered by
the 7nm Snapdragon 865 paired with Adreno 650 GPU and a separate 5G modem. The
handset also goes with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and 4,000mAh battery with
wireless charging.
For cameras, it uses a ZEISS triple camera
setup at the rear with a 12MP f/1.7 1/1.7-inch Exmor sensor with Dual PDAF and
OIS + 12MP f.2.2 1/2.6-inch 16mm-like ultrawide sensor with Dual PDAF + 12MP
f/2.4 1/3.4-inch 70mm-like lens with PDAF and OIS. It also has a 3D iTOF sensor
for faster focus speeds.
It also comes Real-time Eye AF which
tracks both human and animal eyes. The Xperia 1 II is touted as the first
smartphone that can do 20fps bursts with continuous AF tracking. It also has
the Cinema Pro app which lets you edit and create pro-looking videos. It also
has AI DSEE Ultimate which upscales the sound to higher resolution even while
streaming.
This device also brings back the 3.5mm
audio jack and front-firing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality
Audio.
