Apple (or rather its subsidiary Beats)
unveiled the Powerbeats Pro a year ago and they were available in only four
colors, all of them fairly muted (Ivor, Moss, Navy and Black). Soon, Beats will
introduce four more color options more suitable for the warmer seasons.
Lava Red, Cloud Pink, Glacier Blue and
Spring Yellow will become available soon. Only the colors have changed, the
hardware inside is identical. And (somewhat disappointingly) the charging case
comes only in black.
Speaking of hardware, this was the first
true wireless headset from Beats. They inherited the H1 chip from parent
company Apple (used in the second-gen vanilla AirPods and the Pro version).
Unlike Apple’s offerings, however, these loop around your ear for a
comfortable, secure fit.
The buds themselves offer 9 hours of
playback – double what the AirPods Pro manage. The case brings the total
listening time to 24 hours. Note that despite matching the Pro in price, US$ 250,
the Powerbeats Pro do not have active noise cancellation.
Info from retailers suggests that the new
colors will become available on June 1, so expect an official announcement
soon.
