Huawei has recently filed a new design
patent for a new smart speaker. The patent was filed at the World Intellectual
Property Organization on 2nd February 2020, which was finally published on 9th
April 2020.
The designs reveal images of a speaker
that has an oval design with a top portion that raises. Looking at the images,
the front side houses buttons for the power, volume up and down, Bluetooth and
a circular button which may be used to change tracks. The USB port can be found
on the left for charging and the device may also support a microSD card slot in
the same region.
The overall design of the Huawei smart
speaker is interesting, and it could also support Celia voice assistant.
Notably, this voice assistant was also found in the Huawei P40 series, meaning
the speaker could feature other smart features as well. Unfortunately, finer
details at this point are unknown, so we can’t provide any concrete statements
either.
Furthermore, at the moment, it is also
unclear if Huawei will actually launch such a product since its still in the
early stages. The Chinese tech giant might just be covering all bases. However,
considering the detailed images, the company might have already started work on
it. It could also be an affordable smart speaker device from Huawei.
