Western Digital, popular
makers of digital storage products has introduced their next generation NVMe
SSD called the WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD. The SSD boasts speeds up to 4 times
faster than their SATA SSDs at 2,400 MB/s read speeds. The SSD will come in
sizes ranging from 250GB to 1TB.
The SSD uses a PCIe Gen 3
connection in the M.2 2280 form factor. Following the NVMe protocol along with
a Western Digital-designed controller and firmware, the SSD boasts speeds upto
2400MB/s read and 1950MB/s write speeds.
These speeds, when compared to
SATA SSDs, make it ideal for creators
who want high performing drives for working with 4K/8K video, large document
files or other storage-intensive applications.
The WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD is
available for purchase across many offline retailers with capacities of 250GB,
500GB and 1TB priced at Rs. 7300, Rs. 10800 and Rs. 21000 respectively.
