Sony unveiled the Xperia 5
last September and it seems the company will soon follow up with a Plus variant
since its CAD renders have leaked online. The Xperia 5 Plus has a boxy design
like the vanilla 5, but it has a larger 6.6" OLED display surrounded by
slimmer bezels at the top and bottom. The smartphone also features dual
front-firing speakers and has a thickness of 8.1mm (9.3mm with the camera
bump).
Like the vanilla 5, the Plus
variant also has the power button on the right side with a fingerprint reader
embedded. It's flanked by the volume rocker and the dedicated camera shutter
button. On the left side is the SIM card slot and at the bottom is the USB-C
port. The Xperia 5 didn't have a 3.5mm headphones jack, but Sony has included
one on the Plus variant, which is located at the top.
In terms of optics, the Xperia
5 Plus has an 8MP selfie camera on the front and a quad camera setup at the
back, which includes a ToF unit. The rest of the specs of the Xperia 5 Plus are
still a mystery, but since the vanilla 5 came with a Snapdragon 855 SoC, we
expect the Plus model to have a Snapdragon 865 at the helm.
