Powerbeats4

While Apple’s own-branded headphones have stolen the spotlight, the company also owns the Beats by Dre brand. And we’ll soon be reminded of this as a Powerbeats4 headset is nearing launch. Powerbeats is a Bluetooth headset, but now TWS – there’s a wire connecting the two buds. If you want true wireless, you have to look at the more premium Powerbeats Pro model.

Judging by the icon found in iOS 13.3.1, Powerbeats4 will maintain the connecting cord. The cable seems to have been repositioned, which may be a part of improvements to ergonomics. All Powerbeats feature a plastic band that goes around your ear, ensuring that they won’t fall out even during exercise. So, these are not direct competitors to the AirPods, wire or no wire.

We can expect that the new model will upgrade to the Apple H1 chip, up from W1 of the original. The new chip improves wireless connectivity, reduces power usage and supports “Hey Siri” for hands-free commands. Powerbeats3 have an MSRP of US$ 200, expect the fourth generation to start at this price too. But you might want to check the Powerbeats Pro (MSRP US$ 250), which can be found under US$ 200 and they already use the H1 chip.
