Harman Kardon’s sibling
companies that are part of Harman International Industries release headphones
quite often, but it has been years since H/K itself did. For CES 2020 the brand
has prepared three models ranging from truly wireless to over year.
The Harman Kardon Fly TWS will
sell for US$ 150 and feature in-ear detection and touch controls. They are also
sweat and rain resistant and last 5 hours of continuous use with the charging
case capable of providing power for 15 hours more.
On the other end of the
spectrum are the US$ 250 Harman Kardon Fly ANC. As the name suggests, these over
ear headphones have active noise cancellation. These feature 40mm drivers and
you can customize their sound through the Harman Kardon Headphones app.
The Fly ANC features a premium
design with aluminum cups and a leather-covered headband. Their 700mAh battery
charges in under 2 hours and is good for 20 hours of listening with ANC on, 30
hours without it. The H/K Fly ANC is available today, going for US$ 250/€ 250/£ 230.
The most affordable of the
lineup is the Harman Kardon Fly BT model. These have a thin cable running
behind your back and only a small three button remote on the left. The whole
thing weighs just 17.1g and is easy to stuff in your pocket. Or you can wear
them around your neck, each bud has a magnet in it so they snap together.
The Fly BT has 8.6mm drivers.
Their battery will last 8 hours of playback and can be charged pretty quickly -
10 minutes of charging add 1 hour of listening time. An IPX5 rating lets you
take them for a jog. The H/K Fly BT will start shipping on January 21 and cost US$ 100/€ 150/£ 130.
All three headphones can
summon your phone’s virtual assistant. The Fly TWS is not up on the official
site just yet but it should ship before the end of winter.
