The
latest news from Sharp comes from the company’s product manager who said during
an interview that the latest Sharp flagship will become available for sale in
Japan in Q1 of 2020. The device is now confirmed to be coming to Taiwan as well
and is currently awaiting certification, so a release date is yet to be
confirmed. Pricing for either market hasn’t been declared.
Back
in September, Sharp announced the AQUOS zero2, it is the world’s first
smartphone to be equipped with a 240 Hz 6.4-inch OLED display with curved
edges. It’s also the lightest 6-inch phone at just 143 grams. In order to make
that possible, it had to come with a relatively small (for its size) 3,130 mAh
battery.
That
high refresh rate display comes with Full HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch
that houses an 8MP selfie camera. The display also has an integrated
fingerprint scanner, support for Dolby Vision, and HDR10.
Although
the handset uses an impressive display and light weight, the design itself is a
bit uninspiring. A Snapdragon 855 powers the AQUOS zero2 along with 8GB of RAM
and the phone is set to come with Android 10 out of the box. The pair of
cameras in the back are a 12.2 MP main camera and a 20.1 MP secondary cam.
