Garmin
expanded the Instinct series as it brings the Tactical Edition here in the
Philippines. This is a rugged, outdoor GPS smartwatch with tactical
functionality. The
Instinct Tactical Edition has the enhanced features of Garmin's tactix series
including night-vision compatibility mode, Jumpmaster, dual-position GPS
formatting, preloaded tactical activity, and waypoint projection. It also has a
new stealth mode for off-grid functionality.
For
those who love airborne activities, there are three jump types for Jumpmaster
mode including HAHO, HALO, and Static. The dual-position GPS mode can display
two sets of coordinates like MGRS and latitude/longitude simultaneously.
Nightvision compatibility mode reduces backlight levels so that it won't
interfere with night vision goggles.
Stealth
mode will prevent storage and sharing of GPS position as well as disables
wireless comms. When operating stealth mode, GPS location position will be
visible on the device but will not be saved to the device memory. The Garmin
Explore app can help plan the trip in advance and when it’s time to head back
to camp, the TracBack feature on the watch can navigate the same route back to
the original starting point.
In
terms of durability, Instinct Tactical Edition is MIL-STD-810G certified for
thermal, shock, and water resistance of up to 100 meters. It has a
fiber-reinforced polymer case as well. It also has a scratch-resistant display
that is easy-to-read even under direct sunlight.
The
Garmin Instinct Tactical Edition can keep track of heart rate, steps, distance
traveled, calories burned, and more. It also supports different activities such
as hiking, running, biking, swimming, kayaking, and skiing.
It
is also able to receive smart notifications for texts, emails, and app alerts.
It is also compatible with inReach mini and dog devices as well. The Instinct
Tactical Edition has a battery life of 14 days in smartwatch mode, up to 16
hours in GPS mode, and up to 40 hours in UltraTrac battery saver mode.
The
Instinct Tactical Edition has an SRP of PHP 21,995. It is available in Black,
Coyote Tan, Camo Graphite, and Camo Coyote Tan. The
watch is available in different Garmin Brand Stores, partner department stores,
and sports superstores.
