Xiaomi announced today the Mi CC9 Pro smartphone,
but not before it unveiled the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro lineup. The new series
offers three models with different sizes - 55", 65", and 75".
They Pro variations come with better panels and more memory. The Mi TV 5 lineup is offered in
three diagonals - 55", 65", and 75". The bezels are 47% thinner
than the Mi TV 4 lineup, while the TVs are only 5.9mm (55") to 9.9mm
(75") thick.
On the inside, an Amologic T972 chipset, built on
the 12nm process, offers 8K video playback thanks to some sophisticated image
quality engine technology. The chipset is coupled by 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage
on the Mi TV 5, while the Pro comes with 4/64 GB combo. The Pro also gets a 4K QLED panel.
It covers NTSC 108% color space (opposed to 85% in the regular variant) and
offers MEMC motion technology and HDR10+.
Xiaomi provided the Mi TV 5 with 3 HDMI ports, 2
USB, Ethernet, and S/PDIF. Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth are the connectivity
options if you don’t want any additional cables. For the audio, there are two
stereo speakers at 8W each with DTS Audio and Dolby Audio support.
Pricing for the Mi TV 5 is CNY 2,999 (US$ 430/€ 385),
CNY 3,999 (US$ 570/€ 515), and CNY 7,999 (US$ 1,145/€ 1,030) for the 55", 65"
and 75" versions. If you desire the Pro variant, then you have to shed
CNY 3,699 (US$ 530/€ 475), CNY 4,999 (US$ 715/€ 640), and CNY 9,999 (US$ 1,430/€ 1,285). Sales
begin on November 11.
