Transcend launched a new USB 3.1 Gen 2
Type-C hub with 10GB/s transfer capability, 60W Power Delivery, UHS-II SD Card
Reader, and more. Transcend's HUB5C is a 6-in-1 hub that
expands the functionality of Type-C devices like laptops, smartphones, and
tablets.
It provides additional USB-C and USB-A
ports for data transfer, a 60W Power Delivery charging port, SD/microSD card
slot from a single USB Type-C connection. Transcend said that the
HUB5C boasts a durable USB-C cable. The USB-C port also uses the USB 3.1 Gen 2
interface that has transfer rates that goes up to 10GB/s. This is twice as fast
from Gen 1.
This means that if it is paired with a
fast SSD, like Transcend's ESD350C, it can reach 1,000MB/s. In addition, USB PD 3.0
allows for 60W power pass-through which means users can connect its laptop
manufacturer's charger to the port or use and power bank that supports USB PD
protocol.
It also serves as an SD/microSD card
reader with dual card slots. It supports UHS-II and UHS-I standards. With all these
features, HUB5C manages to retain a lightweight, portable design which is great
for people on the go. No information about its price and
availability yet but we will surely update you once we get more details about the
HUB5C.
