The Redmi Note 8 is available in two
variants in India – a 4GB RAM + 64GB version priced at INR 9,999 (US$ 139) and a
6GB RAM + 128GB version that has a price tag of INR 12,999 (US$ 181). A new leak
has revealed that Xiaomi India will soon announce a 3GB RAM + 32GB version.
First reported by 91Mobiles, Xiaomi India
will announce a third variant of the Redmi Note 8 that has 3GB of RAM and 32GB
of storage. The report even includes a retail box of the new variant that shows
the RAM and storage. The color variant in the image is Neptune
Blue but it will most likely be available in Space Black and Moonlight White
too. Other than the differences in RAM and storage, everything else is the
same.
91Mobiles reports that the new variant
will sell for INR 9,799 (US$ 136) which is just about $3 less than the 4GB RAM +
64GB version. While that doesn’t sound like a big deal, Xiaomi’s strategy is to
make it available at offline stores only and will not sell it online. For those
who want the variants with more RAM and storage, they will have to deal with
Xiaomi’s notorious flash sales. The next flash sale is scheduled for 12 noon
IST tomorrow, November 19.
The Redmi Note 8 has a 6.3-inch FHD+ (2280
x 1080)display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 665
processor and has a dedicated MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The
phone has a 13MP selfie camera and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad rear cameras.
There is a 4000mAh battery under the hood with support for 18W fast charging. The release date is
still unknown for this new variant.
