The development team at Popcorn Computer
have this week announced they will be launching a new Linux mini PC next year
sometime during 2020 with prices starting from just US$ 199. If your budget will
stretch and you would like LoRa connectivity than the price increases to US$ 249.
Hopefully the new mini PC will be launched early next year and shipping is
expected to take place sometime around May 2020.
It’s not sure whether the Linux mini PC
will be made available via a crowdfunding site or directly from the Popcorn
Computer website. The mini PC is expected to be equipped with a 4.95 inch, 1920
x 1080 pixel IPS LCD touchscreen display and powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM
Cortex-A53 64-bit processor supported by 2GB of RAM and equipped with 32GB of
eMMC storage.
The Linux mini PC will also be fitted with
a removable rechargeable 3,200 mAh battery together with a variety of
connectors includingfour USB Type-C connectors, with one offering USB Power
Delivery for charging, 2 x host ports, and one that works with a USB-to-Serial
converter for console output. Together with a backlit silicon key keyboard, 2.4
GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 support, an Optiga Trust M secure element, and an
internal microSD card connector with support for up to 256GB of removable
storage.
The small Linux computer will be shipped
preinstalled with the Debian 10 Linux operating system. As soon as more details
about availability, pricing and shipping is announced by Popcorn Computer we
will keep you up to speed as always. In the meantime jump over to the
Liliputing website for more details and images of
what you can expect the Linux mini PC to look like.
