After years of making phones under different brand
names like Alcatel and BlackBerry, last month TCL finally released its first
phone called the Plex. It’s a capable midranger with a 6.53-inch IPS display,
hole-punch selfie camera and Snapdragon 675 chipset. While the phone is still
expected to arrive in Europe towards the end of the year, it’s already gone on
sale in Malaysia.
The Plex is available in the 6GB RAM and 128GB
storage configuration and comes bundled alongside the TCL MTRO wireless on-ear
headphones. There are two color options - Opal White and Obsidian Black and
pricing is MYR 1,099 (US$ 262).
While the Plex comes with a midrange price tag, it
offers a dual-glass design that features a nice 3D holographic finish on the
rear side. The back houses the horizontally aligned triple camera setup with a
48MP main shooter, 16MP ultrawide cam and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone also
features a programmable Smart Key on the right-hand-side and packs a 3,820 mAh
battery with 18W fast charging support.
