Nikon has officially announced the new Z-mount Z50
APS-C that starts at US$ 859.95 and the new 58mm F/0.95 'noct' lens for USD
7999.99. Nearly a year after the release of Nikon's full-frame mirrorless Z6
and Z7 cameras, the Japanese company has just announced the new Z50. It is
Nikon's latest compact and weighs only at 397 grams with dimensions of 127 x 94
x 60mm. Inside is a 21MP APS-C BSI-CMOS sensor with the Expeed 6 processor. It
has an ISO range of 100-51200 that is expanded up to 204800.
At the back is a 3.2-inch 1.04M dot tilting LCD
display. On top of this is the 2.36M dot electronic viewfinder. The camera
connects via Bluetooth, WiFi and micro-USB that supports USB charging. Other
ports include microphone port and micro-HDMI.
Next up is the highly anticipated 58mm F/0.95 Noct
35mm full-frame lens that pays homage to the legendary Noct-NIKKOR 58 F/1.2
that was released in 1977. It features a Maximum aperture of F/0.95 and a
minimum aperture of F/16 with its 11 aperture blades. There are 17 elements in
10 groups with 4 ED and 3 aspherical elements. It does not have autofocus and
is focused manually. The new Noct weighs in at 2000 grams with a diameter of 102mm and a
length of 153mm. This gives it a filter thread of 82mm. It comes with its own
hood and tripod collar.
