Apparently vivo is planning an even busier week than
we originally thought. Just to recap once again, the NEX 3 5G flagship is
scheduled for a September 16 Shanghai unveiling. The V17 Pro will be announced
on September 20 and the new Funtouch OS 9.1 is scheduled to drop on September
17. Turns out there is another vivo announcement in the pipeline as well - the
TWS Earphone, which will be the Chinese company's take on an Apple AirPods
truly wireless alternative.
We know we probably lost a lot of you there, but
these buds appear to be a bit different and could represent a fresh new wave of
truly wireless headphones to finally properly challenge the AirPods and their
feature set. This is all thanks to Qualcomm's new QCC5126 wireless chip. It's
new generation silicon made specifically to power truly wireless headsets. It
has an advanced quad-core processing architecture and dual-core 32-bit
processor application subsystem and offers Bluetooth 5.0 supports and low-power
dual-mode Bluetooth connectivity. Beyond being truly flagship-grade in terms of
connectivity and hopefully connection stability, the QCC5126 also borrows a
party trick from Apple's AirPods - it supports always on voice wake-up.
The TWS Earphone wireless buds have leaked from more
than a few different sources today, including a shout-out from Qualcomm
themselves. Vivo was apparently chosen as a launch partner for its
long-standing work and commitment to mobile audio. An entirely different Weibo
post even offers a few official-looking hands-on shots of the new buds.
The TWS Earphone wireless buds are expected to
launch alongside the NEX 3 5G on September 16. All that remains now is some
info on pricing and availability.
