Thanks to an FCC filing that was spotted last month,
it looks like Nintendo could be getting ready to launch an SNES controller for
the Nintendo Switch. The company has previously launched the NES controller for
the Switch, so this makes a lot of sense.
If the idea of using an SNES controller appeals to
you, you’ll be happy to learn that Nintendo has announced a wireless SNES
controller for the Switch. It looks more or less identical to the original
controller with the added bonus of being wireless. This will only be available
to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers though.
If you are subscribed to the service, in addition to
the controller, Nintendo also announced a bunch of classic SNES games that will
also be coming to the console. There will be about 20 titles to choose from and
they will be available for subscribers starting on the 5th of September. That’s
not a long wait.
Some of the titles that old school gamers might
recognize include Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda: A
Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Star Fox, Super Soccer, and Super Tennis, just
to name a few. We expect more titles will be added, but these 20 titles should
be more than enough to get you started.
