Energizer is present at IFA with two new handsets,
and they're both feature phones. The Energizer E241 and E241S are basically the
same device, except the former has 3G connectivity while the latter packs in
4G.
They run KaiOS, the feature phone platform that
wants to bridge the gap between 'dumb' and smartphones. KaiOS has pre-installed
commonly used apps such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, Google Assistant, and
Google Maps. On top of that the KaiStore offers dozens more apps to choose
from.
As you can see, the new Energizer phones have a
traditional T9 keyboard, and the 2.4" screen isn't touch-enhanced. The
center navigation button can be used to invoke the Google Assistant. They have dual-SIM support,
Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 1,900 mAh battery that's good for 6 days of standby, 28 hours
of calling, and 9 hours of video playback. They have both rear and front
cameras, with an LED flash on the back. They are going to be available in black
or blue, with an extended 3-year warranty.
The E241 with 3G is priced at € 29.99, while the
E241S with 4G will cost € 34.99. Availability details haven't been shared at
this time.
