Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company 70Mai is known for
its in-car smart products. The company’s products include the first-generation
smart DVR dash camera, smart rearview mirrors, tire pressure monitoring, and
car air purifiers. The company has launched the 70Mai Car Smart DVR 2 with some
improvements over the previous model. It still comes with an affordable 299
yuan (US$ 42).
The 70Mai Smart Car DVR 2 is equipped with a
low-power OmniVision image sensor with a maximum resolution is 2560X1600
pixels. This means the camera can easily capture full HD images. The camera has
a large aperture of F/1.8 and a wide-angle of 140 degrees. This model also has
a wider field of view.
At the heart of the device is an Hisilicon
Hi3556V200 high-performance processor which can quickly process huge driving
record data. The processor has faster compression technology. Compared with
traditional H.264 decoding, the compression rate is increased by 30%, which
saves storage space.
The dashcam has a built-in sensor that supports
“vehicle collision automatic recording” . In the event of an emergency, the
dashboard recorder can protect the live image data separately from loop
coverage. The dashcam goes into sleep mode while the car is parked but the
G-sensor will continuously monitor the vehicle. If a collision occurs during
parking, the recorder will automatically turn on and start recording the
parking monitoring video.
The device can be connected to a smartphone app via
Wi-Fi which allows the owner to view live videos and even playback and also
download the previously recorded videos. There are no words on when the
device will go on sale.
