Ever since HMD Global took over as the new licensee
for Nokia-branded devices, the company has re-introduced some old classic
feature phones; giving them new life with modern features like 4G LTE. It
appears the Nokia 2720 is next on the line as latest reports say we may get a
4G version very soon.
A report by NokiaPowerUser says the Nokia TA-1170
which was recently certified by China’s communications agency may be the Nokia
2720 (2019) with 4G connectivity. The phone had previously also received
certification in Thailand and that had revealed the phone isn’t a smartphone
but a feature phone.
Released in 2009, next month (September) makes it
exactly 10 years the device was launched. HMD Global already confirmed it will
attend IFA 2019 and will have an event on September 5. We think this is a
perfect opportunity to revive this classic phone.
The original Nokia 2720 Fold launched with a
1.8-inch 120 x 160 color display. It also had a second 1.36-inch 128 x 160
monochrome display on the outside when closed shut. Other features include a
1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2.5mm audio jack, FM radio, and an 860mAh battery.
