A Huawei Mate 30 Pro promotional image has surfaced,
offering another look at the circular camera island on the back. Despite what
renders from case makers have been showing, the phone will have four rear
cameras, not three.
Three cameras made sense – P30’s square island is
home to three cams and a flash. However, this image shows that the LED flash will
migrate to the side (case renders showed a vague sensor or speaker grille
here). But what will the fourth camera do? The Huawei P30 covered all the
bases with an ultra wide, wide and tele camera. Additional info suggests that
this will be a 3D sensor (likely of the ToF variety).
From previous leaks we know that the Mate 30 Pro
will get two large sensors – 1/1.55” for the main camera and 1/1.7” for the
ultra wide cam. The third camera will be a 5x periscope zoom module. Wired charging will remain at
40W, but wireless charging is getting upgraded to 27W (up from 15W). This
matches up with the 30W wireless charger that was recently certified by the FCC
(there are some loses between the charger and the phone). Either way, this will
be the fastest wireless charger we've seen.
The text clearly mentions the Kirin 990 chipset,
something that was already officially confirmed. Leica is also namechecked with
some boasting about the increased sensitivity of the image sensor (thanks to
pixel binning). The Huawei Mate 30 family will be officially unveiled on
September 6.
