Nokia has
been on a good run since it reappeared under the HMD Global umbrella. Sure, the
sales numbers are not really market-leading, but HMD’s commitment to delivering
solid, simple, and reliable smartphones has not gone unnoticed. Which is why
ears perk up whenever a new Nokia phone is teased about.
A mystery handset has just popped up online via a
few live photos. In them, we can see a circular camera module with the Zeiss
name holding three lenses and a flash. Frontal photos of the device reveal that
it is indeed a Nokia and a snap of the camera app shows us that we will have a
choice between a regular wide angle and ultra-wide-angle camera. The third lens
on the back there is probably for a depth-detecting sensor, which should help
with things like bokeh shots or AR.
The other pictures reveal some more interesting
tidbits. The phone is loaded with Android 9 Pie and the main camera sensor has
a 48 MP resolution. Its processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and it’s got a
3,500 mAh battery, which is on the bigger side especially since it only needs
to power a mid-tier processor. The screen resolution is listed as 1080 x 2340,
so FHD+. No wories, that’s still 410 PPI as per the hardware-analyzing software
that’s on display. Reverse-calculating these numbers leads us to believe that
we are looking at a 6.3-inch display — somewhere between the Galaxy S10 and
Galaxy S10+ in size.
