There is a steady rise in the number of AI-powered English
translating gadgets in China. Of course, the English language is the most
widely spoken language and has the largest vocabulary. In an era of global
trade, there is always a need for a translator when a Chinese speaking
businessman meets with an English speaker. This is just one scenario out of
thousands where a translator is needed. However, apart from gadgets that
translate various languages, the Chinese are churning out devices which allow
Children to learn the English language in fun ways.
Xiaomi recently launched one of such gadgets under
the crowdfunding platform. The device adopts a rather weird name – DuYQYQ AI
English learning Machine Pro. It carries a crowdfunding pice tag of 899 yuan
which is expected to get bumped up slightly after the crowdfunding exercise.
The device uses the standard American CCSS syllabus
and contains age-graded English courses suitable for Chinese children aged 0-8
years, including 24 major themes, 184 Interactive lessons and 1000+ English
vocabulary. Recorded by a professional foreign teacher, the use of American
English pronunciation enables the child to learn the correct diction easily.
The gadget also comes with voice prompt feature.
The 4-inch 1136×640 pixels display makes the device
a great interactive tool for kids. The screen has a built-in anti-Blu-ray chip
to protect the child from Blu-ray from the display. When the child uses the
gadget too close to less than 25cm, there will be a health eye tip to prevent
the child from watching the screen for a long time.
In terms of battery life, there is a built-in
7800mAh ultra-large capacity lithium battery that offers 8 hours of continuous
use without plugging in, and standby in power saving mode for more than 3 days.
