ASRock has launched a new AMD Ryzen mini PC this
week in the form of the ASRock 4X4 BOX-R1000 which follows on from the
previously launched ASRock iBOX-R1000 which debuted earlier this year. The
latest mini PC measures just 110.0 x 118.5 x 67.3mm (W x D x H) offering an
even smaller form factor and is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Embedded R-Series processor
supported by up to 32GB of Dual Channel DDR4 SO-DIMM 2400MHz RAM.
Connections on the small mini PC include support for
triple displays thanks to the inclusion of 1 x HDMI, 2 x Displayport, together
with 3 x USB 3.1, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x M.2 Key M, 1 x M.2 Key E and 2 x Realtek
LAN. As with the previous model you can expect the mini PC to support Windows
10, and AMD says its Ryzen Embedded chips should also support Ubuntu, Yocto
Project LInux, and other operating systems.
While the iBOX is a little larger and supports an
Intel Core i3-8145U, Core i5-8265U or Core i7-8565U processor options,
supported by a single DDR4-2133 SODIMM slot for up to 32GB of RAM, and a 2.5″
drive bay for a SATA hard drive or solid state storage.
