With more and more phone manufacturers branching
into the gaming sector vivo is looking to take advantage of the growing segment
with its upcoming IQOO Youth Edition phone. Two posters on Weibo confirm the
device’s spec sheet including the Snapdragon 845 processor, 128GB of storage
and a 4,000 mAh battery alongside a starting price of CNY 1,998 (US$ 288) and an
imminent announcement.
Prior to that a Geekbench listing for the vivo
V1914A, which is the alleged code name of the IQOO Youth Edition showed
matching specs to those in the new poster. The Geekbench listing also confirmed
the device will come with 6GB RAM alongside last year’s flagship Snapdragon
processor and will run Android 9 Pie.
Another poster, however, shows the exact same phone
but with the midrange Snapdragon 710 processor instead and a lower starting
price of CNY 1,798 (US$ 260). This means we will either see two versions of the
IQOO Youth Edition or one of the posters is fake. At this point we cannot
confirm the authenticity of either so we'll have to wait for vivo to say
something on the matter.
