Chuwi has a wide range of Windows machines ranging
from tablets to laptops and today the just announced a new member of their
product lineup, Chuwi LapBook Plus. It is a 4K display laptop with a slim
design and other interesting specs like the dual SSD slots. Below are its main
specs.
Chuwi LapBook Plus
- 15.6-inch IPS screen, 3840*2160 resolution, 282 PPI
- 100% sRGB color gamut, 8Bit panel with 16.7 million colors, support HDR quality
- Apollo Lake quad-core four-thread processor, clocked at 2.0GHz
- HD Graphics 505, support 4K hard-decoding
- 8GB LPDDR4 memory, 256GB SSD+M.2 SSD storage

This time, Chuwi went with a big display instead of
a 13.3″ or even 10.1″ that most Chinese manufacturers prefer. So the LapBook
Plus comes with a 15.6″ 4K screen with an 8bit IPS panel. It can reproduce 16.7
million colors and covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut to offer a more
realistic and colorful viewing experience. Most laptops in the market come with
6bit panels with 45% NTSC color gamut. What’s more, it supports HDR which can
dynamically balance brightness and show more details.
Chuwi markets the LapBook Plus as a lightweight
laptop for video and music, separating it from gaming laptops which have a
higher demand in CPU, GPU, and battery performance while being much more
expensive. The official data from the company say that, at its thinnest part,
the LapBook Plus is only 6mm while weighing 1.52kg. That’s much lower than the
average 15.6″ laptop that weighs around 2.5kg and is about 20mm thick.
To offer a more reasonable price for its new model,
the company chose to go with an Apollo Lake 4-core/4-thread CPU clocked at
2.0GHz accompanied by HD Graphics 505 GPU that supports 4K hardware. Also, in
terms of storage, the LapBook Plus comes with a 256GB SSD in addition to an M.2
SSD expansion slot which can be upgraded to terabytes of storage. Lastly, the
display features ultra-narrow bezels to offer immersive experience while
watching videos. The Chuwi LapBook Plus will be officially released in July and
we’ll inform you when more details become available.
