We heard a while back that Walmart would launch its
own-brand cheap Android tablets that would compete with Amazon’s Fire tablets
which are the best cheap Android tablets. Released under its in-house Onn
brand, Walmart is selling one 8 inch and two 10.1 inch tablets. Prices start at
just US$ 64.
The 8 inch model is the cheapest at US$ 64. There’s a
10.1 inch model for US$ 79 while another 10.1 inch model has a detachable keyboard
for US$ 99. All three tablets have a 800×1280 pixel resolution display, a 1.3GHz
quadcore processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage. There’s also a 2 megapixel
rear and 0.3 megapixel front camera.
These are not for people who are looking to get
serious work done on their tablets, but are a good option for kids or for the
casual user to check their email and watch YouTube with. Unlike Amazon’s Fire tablets,
they come with Android 9 Pie out of the box with a fairly bland build. The Fire
tablets run a heavily forked version of Android. Also, Walmart’s tablets come
with the Google Play Store and all of Google’s other services like Google Maps,
Duo, Gmail, and more. Walmart’s tablets are now available for purchase online
and from Walmart locations.
