Sony may be working on a foldable phone of its own –
the Xperia F. It is in the early stages of development as reports coming out of
China claim that the phone is set to launch next year.
The screen will have Sony’s trademark 21:9 aspect
ratio and will use a flexible OLED panel from Samsung. It’s likely that this
will be a vertical folding design as the Samsung and Huawei foldable phones
(which fold horizontally) have squarish aspect ratios.
According to the rumors, the Sony Xperia F will
sport a 5G modem, which may be Sony’s first. Unless the company unleashes a
5G-connected Xperia at IFA, of course. By the way, the Xperia 1 is now
available in Europe. Despite pulling out of the US market (and others), the
Xperia 1 seems to be on track to launch in the US on July 12.
